Speaker: Jonathan Taplin's areas of specialization are in International Communication Management and the field of digital media entertainment. He is an Adjunct Professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication.
Abstract: The decentralized, bottom-up technologies and ideas that have powered DIY Culture have political implications far beyond whether Facebook is a tool in the 2008 Presidential campaign. This talk will focus on California as a living laboratory for the politics of decentralization. Professor Taplin will focus on how Moore’s Law, Open Source, and Social Networks could radically alter American politics.
